The two icon sets in the editor:

Dakal's isn't the newest, sorry :(

Thanks for your work!

No problem, elath. ;)

Honestly, riidom's icons looks way better than mine with the grey irrlicht basic button. If you desactivate it i prefer pixel art, but you know, i'm not very objective. :D
Some buttons in the sidebar doesn't seems to handle the transparency of PNG files.

Keep up the good work.

I dunno, I kinda like yours best Dakal, but both are very nice so I wouldn't mind either sets being chosen. :)

Yea, good luck with your luxury problems :) I'm glad I don't need to decide that.

That is slightly off-topic, but the OpenMW project also has an editor which lacks icons desperately since some time.
So if your icon-fetish is not yet satisfied, Dakal, maybe you want to take a look there? :D I mention that, because they have a set partially done - but it is pixel art, so I'd have to start from zero. Just thought I mention it! :)

Thanks ridom it's a good idea. I've never heard of this need before for OpenMW project. :D
In fact i'm not an icon-fetish all the time, i'm currently bored but i definitely take a look at this project!

So I tried to reproduce the black GUI which samuncle spoke in a previous post:

I don't want to give more work it's just a mockup for fun. ;)

I do like the black UI. Looks so cool... which of course is the major criteria for the editor. Features? Pah. Cool, yah!

i agree with charlie, graphic awesomeness of an editor is priority. Ergonomy and others things sucks.

Another chance to contribute to the editor and prove your skills: STK-TE needs a loading screen! It should be relative small (<=800*600), and it should contain a welcome message. It would be displayed after running the editor, while it loads textures. Representing time passing somehow maybe also a good idea – a filling bar, a kart moving from left to right or something like that.

riidom:
Thanks again, it seems to me that we will use your icons. I hope it isn’t a problem to draw some new in the same style.
This settings icon isn’t necessary, sorry :( We would need a select music icon instead.
Also, having a next and a previous button for the texture selector window would be cool. Its side should be 50*20.

Here are the latest requested icons, and also a remake of the hard terrain brush (looks less 2D now). Preview is this time a little lazy, zip is like usual.

P.S. for the splashscreen I don't feel too qualified.. to me, sounds more like a job for someone who can actually draw and paint :)

Someone who can actually draw and paint is Mariam Lamrani, who created a wonderful poster for the 8.1 release.

Dakal {l Wrote}:So i finished this first icon set even if it isn't fit well with the editor.
I updated the dig icon, the editor icon and add 'pressed' on each icon.

Preview: just click to enlarge.

To be honest, i think that those pixel art icons are really better and look more professional, colourful and appealing. (Just my opinion)
Maybe there will be an option to choose because the different sets :p.

This is the problem with this kind of project, we have to choose between different people work  .

My personal preference goes to the pixel art icon set too, but I find the other one quite good too. If the former is not used in STK, hopefully some other nice project can make use of it :-)

Hey elath!

Use this image: http://fav.me/d7v3jb6 as splash screen.
OzoneOne has already made at least two other concept images and is planning to do even more. See http://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2350&start=100.
They are inspiring and suggest the user to follow the cartoonish style of Supertuxkart. These are two reasons to use OzoneOne's concept image.

Is it a huge effort to randomly chose a splash screen image from all of these conecpt images? That would be great.

Random loading screen isn't a problem at all.
Nice image, but i would rather use images from tracks made by the editor. At the moment we have a single one from a test map i created. I hope we will have more ; )

The editor needs an icon for the executable.
If someone could draw a nice one, it would be really appreciated ;)
