final version of minigolftrack

i am ready now with the improved minigolf-track

http://platen-software.de/sebastian/min ... -v1.tar.gz

it has now:

- easter egg-mode-support(easter eggs)

- a cannon (a golfball)

- grass-shader

- better shape of the track, better drivelines (ai drives better now)


please test the new version of the track and report bugs and other issues here

for example:

texture/model-problems (stretched textures, bad textures...)
drivlines (where have ai trouble)
problems with cannon or easter-eggs

You should change the shape of the bridge a bit to make the kart jump imho. It could be funny

Bug: The position of the kart at the beginning.

Then we should find another music, this one is already used in Math class. I will look at it.

Don't hesitate to add elements that makes the track look even better :) ! Good job

in the second image i forgot to texture something

and the race-start could have a better place, i will change these parts

and the thing with the bridge i will test, how it is to drive and how it looks, when i change it

I think you should still have a sharp S-turn like the old one - maybe not quite as sharp, but it added interest. Two spirals is a little boring. Also, I liked the old tunnel texture better, IMHO it looks better for the tunnel. I also think you should scatter a few golf balls around the track.

i changed it to these spirals, because ai had massive problems before, i tried to find a good solution, but they always had problems

i can change the texture of the tunnel and i could add some golfballs

The problem is the ai, not the track!

If the track features turns that are "too" sharp, then this only indicates that the ai has to get sharper.
If there is no track with such sharp turns, then the ai will never be optimized for such conditions.

But nevertheless - if this track is in the core game, then there should be no ai issues visible for the player.
Maybe you can add the "old minigolf" track to the addons.

i would say it is both

ai needs improvement, because they should drive such parts better,

i noticed that some parts of the track had bad drivelines, on other parts i noticed that i can change the drivlines and this hadn't changed something

Hello

I have tested your version of mini golf.

I love the rolling golf ball :). That's the kind of thing that I want in every tracks, more interactivity between the player and the environment.
I also love the small bridge. It's very beautiful.
The animated grass on the water looks great but I think you missed that you can use vertex painting to specify the influence of the shader. Black = no animation, white = animation.

I prefer the old tunnel and I think you can polish some part of the track :). I'm not convinced by pine trees.

Tried it- liked most of it. I prefer the old tunnel too, and parts of the track are just too wide

i am back, now i will start working on these parts

i will change the tunnel and there are some other small things to do

i have an image here with the first change

this will be the new tunnel, it is easier to drive s the very old one

most things are changed, but i have some questions:

what kind of tree should i use, you can show me an example of a tree in an other track, so i can see it

and do you have the same bug with the grass in the water? (download/file.php?id=6827&mode=view)

have you an idea, why this happens for me?

You should keep the first part of the original track, then from the place you put a (amazing) golf ball to the end you can make the changes you want because they were good :)

i changed the tunnel, because the ai had (massive) problems with it,

but it isn't a "spiral" anymore, it is u-formed now

and about the trees, i want to wait what samuncle says, what i can do (which trees)

for me the original version was easier, becausethe ai had problems on some parts of the track (for example in the original tunnel)

i agree about the ai :) i was just talking about the "driving feelings" for me you should let some little part be sharp

Hi,

very nice work. The track looks good and drives well. It's maybe a tiny bit too easy, this used to be a difficult track ;) but drivability if overall much better than before

Perhaps the only part I'm not sure about is the ramp (see screenshot), I think it's a bit too high? It's a bit awkward to drive on

The track looks cool and I think now trees are better.

It maybe strange that you can move a golf ball but a golf ball from the cannon can hit you. Maybe it's better if a ball just push you. Hiker is this possible ?

yes, it is strange for me, then you have different types of a cannon

in farm there is the swatter-effect:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4773
on fort-magma there is a standard-effect
and here is the pushing-effect (it also should be used by the minecart of the new mines-track)



could you check, if you have the same graphics-bug in the track like you can see it in an image is here

you can use the newest version of the track for this
i posted some day ago this topic about this bug: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4785,
(you will find some important information here)
but this seems to be forgotten

For me, this track it's more easy to drive and more fun to play.
