Special character requests for translations

Special character requests for translations

Postby Arthur » 14 Jan 2010, 01:56

I'm creating this thread in order to collect the various special character requests for the orange header font in SuperTuxKart 0.7 in a single place. I'm not the one in charge for this though; Auria is, but I've had a chat about this with her and I think it should be OK to do it this way.
So, please write what language this is for and then include all the special characters needed for your translation. The font is capitalized, so you only need to write the characters here CAPITALIZED.

Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

I'm doing the nl-NL locale and the only problem in Dutch are the diaeresis. It's a pain, but they are present in the font.

In the few years on this project I've seen a lot of talk on east-european characters (things like č), so I guess those must be on your list.

For Slovenian we need č, š, ž.
For other slavic languages đ and ł are required and I think this is pretty much it.
Are the strings finalized ?

I enabled them. Unfortunately the forum software requires admins to allow specific extensions, I can't permit all extensions, so let us admins know when you need uploading some file format allowed (or just use .zip/.7z files)

Hi bd4e,

Are the strings finalized ?

Not officially, so it might change a little, but I think 95% will stay the same

I am submiting slovenian translation for the trunk version ( i hope that is the correct one ).

thanks :) I'll be committing it asap. Have you been able to test the translation in-game? I hope there are no missing characters (well except those mentionned, but I think the black font has them; not sure if you need these characters in headers)

I'll should update Galician translation before you release 0.7 (any guess date? :D). I'm wondering if you mean regular non-english characters used by other languages, or instead those used by the game localization. Anyway, in Galician (and Spanish) there are just a few of them: Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú, Ü, Ñ, and probably not, but it might be used by other languages: Ç.

@ Auria:

I haven't tested it in game yet, I am waiting for a .deb file.
Please let me know if the strings change any further.

Thanks for your feedback; all abovementionned characters are already part of the main font, and the following have just been added to our header font if they weren't already part of it :

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
č, š, ž
Á, É, Ó, Ú, Ń, Ć, Ś, Ź, Í
Ü, Ż, Ł, Ç, Ę, Ñ

EDIT: added
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
Ą
