No copy of the database schema is provided, so I had to manually reconstruct it

Yes, you are right, I am going to add a copy of the database schema.

You didn't blank out your DB password in the SVN copy (I advise you change it because it is impossible to remove from record now)

It is only passwords in my testing environment, passwords tuxfamily's database aren't same :) but I will change them.

I am going to apply your patch, thanks ! :p

I don't mind a work-in-progress. Here's the file for the nl-NL locale.

Thanks, I am going to add that too :) .

Chinchilla works on my computer :?
How do you unzip the file ?
For BigBuckBunny, it's a 7-zip file, rudy85, can you upload a zip version ?

7z is free and popular format why I can't use it ?

Because :
- Windows users can't open 7-zip files if they haven't got 7-zip
- We need to have the same file format for add-ons (to make a software to install them)
- Many add-ons are already in zip format ;)

I have just seen your new tracks and I have a question :
Why did you upload no screenshot ?
Maybe it is a bug with the new uploader, the old ? If yes, did you have some error message ?

Would this work on the help page?:

Installing add-ons

In the future, we will make a snazzy updater which would load & install add-ons with one click. Until then, some manual labour is required. Don't worry, it's not rocketscience.

I will assume you want to install a track called mytrack. Follow the following steps:

1. Klick the "Download" button and save the file mytrack.zip to the hard drive.

2. Unzip the file mytrack.zip to a folder (a.k.a. directory). N.B. Some programmes, like winzip, unzip the files to a folder of it's own (creating folders like ..\mytrack\mytrack). Please check if the files are located in a single folder (i.e. ..\mytrack). If not, correct this.

3. Locate the data\tracks folder:
- In Windows, this is usually C:\Program Files\SuperTuxKart\data\tracks
- In Linux/Unix, this is usually ~/.supertuxkart/data/tracks
- On the Mac SuperTuxKart runs in a disk image. I am not sure how to access that. :(

4. Copy the MYTRACK folder to the data\tracks folder (creating the data\tracks\mytrack folder).

5. Start supertuxkart and the track should be automagically detected.

For karts, the procedure is the same except you place your folder in the data\karts folder in stead of the data\tracks folder (step 4).

ToDo :
- An history function
- A "there is a new add-on" system
- Improve users system
- A Blender branch
- An author property
- A BBCode syntax to set some text in bold

Can you re-upload them (my uploader was buggy :( ) ?
(If you want : select an add-on and scroll at the bottom (and you can validate them at the same place if there is no bug because you are a moderator))
Another problem : Intheouse is really a 0.7 version ? :?
Thanks for all :)

Where are they?

They aren't validated yet because they need more screenshot (I can validate them without but it would be better with a screenshot) and there is a problem with STK version.

xapantu {l Wrote}:The website isn't finished but I don't find any bug.

Other than the markup being completely wrong?... mmmno. :p

Here's how I would prioritise your to do list (1=Do Next, 8=Do Last):
    1. Blender branch (Ability to add blender file)
    2. Improve & add translations
    3. "Automated" installer
    4. New add-on notification system (e-mail?)
    5. Improve users system
    6. BBCode syntax in descriptions
    7. History function
    8. Editable author property (you could ask superuser to change it for you)

May I also suggest the following 2do's:
  • Rating system (originality, artwork, drivability, difficulty, completeness)
  • Get a link to stkaddons.tuxfamily.org on the STK wiki (preferably homepage)
  • Besides an "Author" field, a "With special thanks to" field (We are a community, baby! :D )
  • Possibility to add comments... (Problem: How to moderate that?)

This needs work on stk, and won't happen before 0.7 is released (unless someone sends in a patch of course ;) ).The idea will be that stk will inform users of new updates, and be able to download and install them.

Hi,

I very like the idea of your addons website xapantu. :)
I know it's not the priority for the moment but if you want i would like to improve design.

I made a small presentation of the homepage, you can see it at: http://
This is just an idea but if you want to talk about it contact me ;)

You can found a zip here

Maybe I could start this but I need more detail. So, if you have some time to answer to these questions :
- What library do you want to use to download add-ons ? (I thought use ftp python library but include python seems to be very complicated on windows)
- It would be good if we could add add-ons in ~/.config/supertuxkart/data on linux (and in others directory for others sytem), how can I make that ?
The idea will be that stk will inform users of new updates

On linux system, stk can't be updated by a no-administrator user. So, I think it will works only on Windows and Mac OS X :(

An other question :
Can I add some page to supertuxkart's wiki to explain how works the website, how add an add-ons, how modify an add-ons.... ?

Ideally files will be added to user-writable directories. Actually, on Windows too writing to the app's directory is forbidden since vista, and on OS X applications are urged not to expect to have write access to themselves. So we really need to use user-specific data. Hiker can tell you more than me on this
