First of all, congratulations on your first track! :)
I've just looked your video and that's what I think about it:
The bounds between the road and grass are a bit ugly, as far as I know there is a way to mix two textures (or to add transparency to one texture) and it will look cool. I mean something like this: http://img831.imageshack.us/i/grass2dirt.png/
I really likes those uphills and downhills, this can be amazing to ride there.
I haven't downloaded your track yet, however I hope you've added a license file as all textures and objects should be done under CC-BY-SA 3.0 or GPL (CC-BY-SA 3.0 is better, imho)

@KroArtem - thank for congrats and suggestion.
Don't worry - there are two text files: music.txt and textures.txt with licenses' info.

I also only watched the video. The track looked really interesting - but I think those hills should be a bit rounded. They are very spiky :/

good job p98!

I think it's a good idea and we want more because in a cave there are stalactites. :D

suggestions:
-more stalactites
-no grass, there is no grass in cave, mushrooms or water is good
-a roof

keep up the good work. ;)

Yeah, may be it is better to make the road wider (instead of grass), especially near the walls. Also, there is no sky texture (may be this mean we're under the ground at all? :))
Unfortunately I've got some problems with textures (but this is only a videocard driver problem)

Hi,

great! More tracks, and work on the addon manager is also taking place - I have to hurry :)

I haven't had time to play that track either (looks like we are all busy atm), but:
KroArtem {l Wrote}:Yeah, may be it is better to make the road wider (instead of grass)

I agree, narrow rodes make for a more boring track, since it's very difficult to overtake other players. One other problem I could imagine if you remove the grass (which I basically agree with, it does indeed feel odd to have grass in a cave) would be that it might be difficult to see where to drive - i.e. not much distinction between track and walls.

Cheers,
Joerg

A water fall could be include to improve this great track
I think road may be a little larger

Good job ;)

I tried it, and it's a good first track. :)
I like narrow roads, but I agree it's a bit too narrow, but the main thing making the track difficult to drive is the bumpiness. If you could smooth them out, and perhaps make the height differences smaller, then it would be easier to drive, and thus more fun. Right now, it feels like you should drive at half speed in order to remain control of the kart (and not make the character's butt hurt too much ;) ).

Overall, good work, and I hope you will continue modeling. :)

As far as I have mentioned from the video, p98 was riding at haft speed here or there (but I used to ride very fast, may be this is the reason why I got stuck everytime on this track :D)
Narrow roads can be really fun for professional STK players (for example, Arthur :)) but for ordinary players it is hard to control the kart, speed, look for powerups, etc.
Also don't forget about checklines, it is possible not to make a long trip after riding under the little bridge at the beginning but to ride on this bridge and save a lot of time :)

By the way, could you please fix the textures with spaces in the filenames so they don't have that anymore? So 'rock 1.png' should be 'rock_1.png' etc. The compiler gets confused and stops such as it is now because of the spaces. Not a big problem (just move track folder, and then back again after compilation), but would be more convenient for us on the "bleeding edge". ;)

Thanks. :)

Instead of grass, use wide grooves for the track and/or add stalactites and stalagmites and other features (boulders, water etc) i.e. use rocky cave-like features.

Hi,

many nice ideas here, but I recommend making the road larger; also the boulders could be much less spheric; and the textures could be much less repeating, try scaling down the polygons in the UV editor of blender.

Finally, did you make the textures yourself? there are some quite nice textures there :)
You may have some licensing issues however, the music was not made by you so you need to add the name of the author and its license to License.txt. The same applies to any texture you did not 100% make yourself

Hey it's a very good start. A bit of repetition in the textures and some bland scenery aside*, my only real issues with the track would be the boulders (too round, too light) and the lighting (engine issue I guess).

* this will all get better with experience + more time spent on the track

Also once I went up the side of the track (the brown stuff) and my kart seemed to lose all grip. I couldn't turn it and had to wait for gravity to drop me back to the normal track.

The track was good fun though. STK is a lot better than it used to be.

After playing it a lot, I like it as it is, with all its narrowness.
So I can have a really HARD challenge: 19 computer opponents. 10 rounds was quite exhausting, but I won. :D

As far as licensing goes, I believe there was licensing info in separate .txt files, such as "Music.txt" or so.
I really like the music, but unfortunately its licensing makes it impossible to use in the main game. Still nice music for an addon. :)

Hey, that's not a bug, it's a feature ;) Did you seriously expect you could drive vertically? :D

Hm, I think the latest version is the best, however you can see how it looks with my opensource driver:
http://img827.imageshack.us/i/stkinacave.png/
(the same screenshot for Auria -- http://db.tt/goiUsuf )
But there are no such tracks were _everything_ is white, so in this point 'In a cave' is the worst one :'(

It wasn't vertical, but more like 40-45 degrees (so pretty steep). No, I don't expect to be able to drive up ultra steep slopes, but if losing speed after accidentally hitting them, turning should still work so I can angle the kart back towards the track and not have to wait as it slides backwards to a surface with grip.
