STK videos

Postby fabton » 13 Sep 2016, 15:45

Hello

My son like to watch the STK video from the arcade game

(the first one when Nolok rapted Gnu and the last one when you deliver him).

Does someone knows how to have it in a media file (e.g. avi) ?

Thank you !

A screencapture program is your best bet.

It's a cutscene–--i.e. it's rendered on-the-fly and there's no video file. If you want to replay them, you can run STK from the command line like this:

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
supertuxkart --cutscene=introcutscene --no-start-screen

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
supertuxkart --cutscene=introcutscene2 --no-start-screen

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
supertuxkart --cutscene=endcutscene --no-start-screen

I worked on a way to run these from the GUI at one point but never got around to getting it into a submittable form.

Thank you for this option but I have an error message in the conseole :
[error ] main: Invalid parameter: --cutscene=endcutscene.

Same issue for Introcutscene & Introcutscene2

Good initiative at least. It could be so nice to offer possibility to rewatch cutscenes !

Because this option is only in git version of STK

That already exists, go to the folder with the code, run

sed -i 's/DEBUG_MENU_ITEM 0/DEBUG_MENU_ITEM 1/g' src/states_screens/main_menu_screen.cpp

, and recompile.

What I was working on was the ability to run any cutscene, not just the built-in ones from the artist's debug mode menu. But Auria wanted a generic message dialog with a callback-type thing and I ran out of time.

You could also just go in the options and create a new player, so you can see the cutscene again

And it's also available on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H-GGjWHQDU
