Hi,

apaprently Greenlight may be removed ( http://www.gamespot.com/articles/valve- ... 0-6417155/ ) so maybe not a good idea to invest much energy there

greenlight might be removed but I'm 100% in favor of trying to get stk on steam maybe as an early access but for that we should release 0.9 final.

Auria, that article was posted more than a year ago and Greenlight is still here. :) Putting the game on Greenlight (eventually on steam) will increase the SuperTuxKart community dramatically.
Submitting games to Greenlight isn't difficult. GPL software is accepted and there is a submission fee of $100. You can read the terms and conditions here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/219820/. SuperTuxKart has the potential of becoming one of the most popular free to play games on Steam. Together we can make a big impact just by putting it on steam.

I don't know if it would really be usefull, but if we try to get STK to steam, then we would also need to support steam-specific features, e.g. integrate the achievements with steam and make the language changeable through steam. This shouldn't be to much work because there's a c++ api for that, but it still has to be done.

Another point for steam is that there's the possibility to sale sell DLC's which would provide the infrastructure to sell extra karts/tracks/etc.

Now you're getting into territory that I think we should stay as far away from as possible.

I think it could be a good idea, but only if it's done to support the development of the base game.

Selling extra tracks/karts was originally suggested by samuncle iirc because that way he could spend more time for working on STK.

IMO, stk must be free, but why not put it in Steam too? I don't care if I must to pay a few dollars to download some extra tracks when they release STK 1.0. :D Steam can make STK be known for idiots people who don't like indie games.
