[important] We need a music for Chocolate

I just had the idea of rearranging the old music for Gown's Bow for the new Island track. It's already kind of beach-sounding, and it would be a nice little nod to the original TuxKart.
I've already had a look at the original game's MOD files, and made a quick remix of the Oliver's Math Class song as practise (obviously the remix for the game will not be in this style):

So, GeekPenguinBR is doing the Chocolate music now? I'm thinking I should at least start the Island music and see what happens. It would probably save a lot of trouble later.

Hi!
Unfortunatelly, I can't for while due my keyboard (Korg), so I can't make the composition/arrangement using MIDI. I'm sorry. Anyway, I know only the true Brazilian samba (the really true Brazilian samba, not that caribbean "samba" you hear in foreigner videos showing Brazil) but I really don't think that the true Brazilian samba match the SamUncle's track. Listen:

Again, sorry but I hope I can fix the problems, then, maybe I may to collaborate with songs for other tracks (including my own).

Hi,

I'm a total newbie to STK development, but it's a very nice project i've been playing it for years.

I found a page talking about chocolate, and by the description i think samba is not the right style.

http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Tracks

Samba come from an African origin, nothing to do with Amazon, it has to do with Brazil, but more with Rio than the rest of the country.

I realy think that Parintins Festival has a LOT more to do with the Chocolate Description.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzgiZnHftjo

I think this different rhythm can be a great discovery for the players.

What do you guys think?

I think it would be really cool to have an alternate version of the music when the player drives through the temple. So the music could cross-fade to a more quiet, eerie version as the player enters the temple, and then the music would fade back to normal again as the player exits.

Is there currently support for this kind of thing, or is it not possible?

Currently not supported, but if this is wanted perhaps there will be - no promises though. ;)

I did a little test. I made a version of the music for inside the temple, then played it underneath the normal music, but muted. Then I turned the volume of the normal track down and the temple track up, both at the same time. After a few seconds I changed the volume back again. This was the result:

Hello :)

Some clarifications about priorities

1) The idea of music changing depending on the location in the track is nice on paper but the tracks are way to little to give a real opportunity to see it in action. The section in the temple is at max 10 sec. This is a good idea for open world like skyrim but not for a race that is fast.

It's a very minor priority. However if you want to make 2 version why not making a version that is a bit stressful for the last lap ? That would be a lot more useful

2) My current plan about music is: I will use OzoneOne music for the track Cocoa Temple. If and only IF GeekPenguinBR makes a music for Cocoa temple I will use is music for Cocoa temple and OzoneOne's for the track Island (because the current one come from Jamendo and we are trying to have only original musics).

OzoneOne concerning your issue about not knowing how Island next gen will look I can assure you it will be similar to the current one but with more vegetations and some stuff. It will fit perfectly I can promise you :).

Keep going the good work

I'll work on the final mix and the Final Lap version then, if no other changes need to be made.

So, is "Chocolate" the final name of the track, or are you planning on naming it something else?

It sounds really nice, good work! :D

I don't want to nag since I'm not a developer ;) but I think this decision is a pity... I think changing the music in several sections, even if it is only a slight change, would be a really nice touch to this great track, since it makes the the music fit the environment even better :) I can understand if it is not a real priority though :(

Changing music chould be possible, but as samuncle said, this may not have sense in temple section. I'm not sure if we could play two files at the same time - one which volume increases and one which decreases. We should probably slowly set music volume to 0 and then stop first file and play the second. Temple section is too short for it. Better use additional sounds instead of this to make it more interesting.

Play different sound in lastest lap is much better idea.

Hello

Cool :) thank you 0zone0ne. The music is awesome. We will include it. The last lap version could be a little bit more stressful. I will include it too when supertuxkart will support this.

I just created a ticket https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-code/issues/1613

Nice song! My only complain is that in the first part (0:04 to 0:25) , there is some kind of high-pitch beeping in the left ear that's pretty annoying, not sure what it's supposed to be?

That's a triangle, but through my headphones it's pretty quiet, you wouldn't know it was there unless you were really looking for it. I think what we need in this case is some audio mastering to make sure that the music sounds the same through all different kinds of speakers, headphones, etc. Unfortunately I don't know how to do this, and it usually costs a bit of money to get someone else to do it. :(
