Codename chocolate (say hello to the High definition)

Hi, the new style is just awesome. I don't know wether or not you still need new objects, but I tried to make a gorilla, following your new guidelines. There are a diffuse and a normal map, both 512*512 pixels. I handpainted the texture. I'm not done with the painting but I wanted to know if it follow the new style guidelines.

Hi,

it looks pretty nice overall :) good job
It does follow the style guidelines. I was about to say it could be a little more colored, but then it's a gorilla, not sure we can really put that much more color to a gorilla

Yes, I looked for gorilla images on Google and I found that most gorilla only had those brownish marks on their heads, and the rest of the body was black/grey. Here is a first .blend. I rigged the model and fixed some parts of the texture. The model has 1916 tris.

It's very cool :). Maybe we can animate him. However I was thinking that we should use Suzanne like monkeys.

The texture seems good. However I think the model might be more caricatural. It looks a bit too realistic.
Try to change the eyes. Make them bigger it will be better to see expressions.

Don't give up. I'm looking forward and if slightly changes are made I will include it :)

At the very least, that Gorilla model should be uploaded to OpenGameArt as I'm sure many other games could use him.
Free Gamer - it's the dogz
Vexi - web UI platform

Yes, I'm going to upload it to OpenGameArt.

I agree with you samuncle, a more cartoon looking gorilla would be better. I looked at some images on Google and it looks like most cartoon gorillas don't have very big eyes, maybe because it would make them look smart. So I tried to play with the proportions and to make a texture like the one of Suzanne. Here is what it would look like:

Looks pretty good!

I suppose you also intend to rig him so he can be animated?

Actually I already rigged it. I'm using the addon riggify to make it quickly. I am waiting for samuncle's opinion to finish the texturing.

Hello :)

Sorry for the delay

The texture is huge (it's a good thing, we can reduce the size latter) however I think it will look better if there is more details, like fur.
Blender crashes when I try to open your blend so I can't check. But the model seems good.
